N is for NIL !

As athletes step into the spotlight not just on the field but across media, branding, and digital platforms, NIL has become one of the most dynamic intersections of sports and entertainment law. Today, a player’s persona is more than performance, it’s intellectual property.

NIL governs how identity can be used, licensed, monetized, and protected, ensuring athletes have real agency over the value they create. From college sports to professional leagues, from endorsements to AI‑generated likenesses, NIL is reshaping representation and redefining what it means to be a modern public figure.

Julia Balot is making sure that the athletes win off the field too.

When you Give Green, you’re investing in the next generation of lawyers, like Pierce and Julia.

During Give Green, we benefit from gifts of ANY size, because each donor brings us closer to unlocking challenge funds that truly move the needle for TLS. Even $5 makes a difference!

And students, we need you too! Thanks to Richard B. Crowell (L ’65), when 75 students donate, $5,000 is unlocked—and $10,000 when 150 students give. Let’s make it happen!

Donate at the link in our bio.
