a letter to bambi isolde 💌
༷ ⠀ ͡︵ ⠀ . ⠀ ⠀ * ⠀.

july 20th, i clicked into a document and started writing book two of the cliffside duology with a goal to finish it by september 15.

it’s september 12th and i wrote 60k+ words in little more than a month and a half & within that month a half, i said goodbye to my favorite character i have ever written.

bambi isolde —- eighteen, indigenous, angry as hell. fiery, sarcastic, always having something irritating to say internally.

she is everything i wish i read as a kid.

i’m kind of emotional sitting here and writing this. i’ve spent over a year and a half with bambi. looking at pinterest posts and thinking of her, listening to songs and hearing her, seeing sunsets and clothes and tv shows and seeing her.

the cliffside duology has taught me more than anything else. that you can be angry and still be loved. that you can be seen outside of your trauma. that people can love you despite your flaws. that despite everything you have been through, everything you have pushed past, that you can be seen. be heard. be adored.

i’m being a bit dramatic. i still have three (prob more) drafts of bambi. dissecting her and the cliffside characters.

but, today, i finished creating her story.
my favorite character ever. everything good about me is put into her.

bambi isolde, rest easy sweet girl. i’ll see you in draft two.

I love being madre, mommy, mother, mom, Bruh, and MOMMM to this crazy crew. The designated family selfie taker made me a mom 28 years ago and we added two more a few years later. Watching your offspring become adults is wild. You realize where you went right (and wrong) as a parent, and hope they correct those flaws for the next generation. But I wouldn’t change this crew of mine for the world. They make me proud to be part of their lives every day (and they’re choosing partners wisely).

Guest appearance by my sister and Ben the boyfriend on this one;) #humphriesnation

ghost in the cliffs is so so so special to me. i’ve plotted and written bambi’s story for a year now, and i love cliffside more than ever. hearing everyone’s thoughts, theories, how excited they are to read the whole thing —- it seriously means everything to me. i’ve dreamt of becoming of an author since i was little, and here i am!! finishing my first book!!

if you want to read ghost in the cliffs, go ahead and fill out the form in my bio.
i can’t wait welcome you to cliffside soon :,)
