i have been following julian’s work for quite a few years now. he has such a distinctive gothic language, and his pieces are always filled with deep meaning. this is not the universe i usually dwell in, and yet his rings resonate so much with my own taste and aesthetics. there is something deeply authentic about his work, and that is increasingly rare these days. one piece in particular, his anatomical heart, has always stayed with me.
to me, it is a thing of profound beauty.
julian is one of those rare artists whose work i could spot a mile away. he knows exactly what he is doing, and he does it like no other.

🦋The Last Sanctuary

A place where an era is preserved.
For not every death belongs to the living some mark the end of who we used to be.

This is a bridge piece from my old style, transitioning into my most recent pieces. Moving forward, I will not be heavily relying on butterflies to create my pieces. I will still use specimens, just not as the focal point, but they will be used as accent elements. I don't have a name of what I'm moving into, and I'm not fully there yet. This is a transition period. So stick around with me and see where this path goes!

This piece is made from a repurposed clock. Green hairstreak butterflies with a green swallowtail butterfly and blue/ green jewel beetles on dark purple velvet background with purple lights and some dried flowers. The lights have 3 stiffen light up options.
