more from #cyclopscove3

Pretty sure these are from day two. Not super sure, for some reason my camera thinks they were taken at 5 am in October 😒

Anyway @ahundreddrums had to be another one of my favorite sets from the festival. I’ve been in love with her music since I heard her sample Scrim at the start of her #hulaween set—also my first time going to the rail. I think the first few slides are from her set, but there should be more video to follow later

some shots from day 1 of #cyclopscove3

don’t want to get another hula situation, so storage space be damned—we need content

most of these stills are from the crowd of the @eliminatemusic set and holy shit let me tell you he brought it down—I had to make up for the fact I got blacked out during his off the internet tour and I barely remember it. Can’t believe this dude I used to watch making meme remixes from Michael Jackson’s adlibs on YouTube is just out there killing it as a DJ. Might’ve been my #favoriteset for that alone. I will be posting reels from his set, at some point

Also sorry for covering up your face with my fat hand again Danny

WARNING ⚠️ EXTREME WORD BIOHAZARD CONTAINED BELOW ⚠️ WARNING

Story time.
Or is it more an essay?
I don’t know any more because this is the third time I’ve deleted this draft caption, although the first time was an accident because I forgot to save it as a draft.
I’ve heard all of the cells in our body are replaced between every 10 year period, Theseus’ ship style, so I guess I’m somewhere in the middle of my third draft myself. Whoever writes this shit needs to chill, that’s for sure.

I don’t really understand the point of life, the universe, etc., nor do I think it’s all that fruitful of a question, despite the fact I think about it a lot. But something I always find myself coming back to, whether in my mind, my thoughts, or in the places and times of the world, is people.

I think people might be all we have.
What good are things gonna do us?
And isn’t that terrible, since we all know what people can do to us? What they can do to themselves, what they can do to others, the world…

Yet I can’t find myself disagreeing with the sentiment.
I feel like I promised instagram a long sappy post, but honestly, my words have been failing my lately. Or I’ve been failing my words, failing to find them, or letting them go when they actually mattered most. How was I supposed to know?

Like how was I supposed to know life was going to lead me to Florida; and how was I supposed to know that despite all the trials and tribulations of twenty-something years, I would find a new batch of wonderful humans to inspire me and breath fresh life into this oh so dreary reality we call our common home. And really, this isn’t all of them. This is just a particular special bunch of them.

Well, hit the caption wall so I guess that’s it. Thanks Zucc, ya fucc.

To anyone and everyone, I hope the world brings us around together again. To my dearest friends, pictured or otherwise,

Know that I love you, and I hope the world brings us together again soon

New Orleans at night, restless.

⚠️ Lots of Words ⚠️

Still a stranger to this city on my first night, foggy and hazy Mardi Gras night, I watched as the titular day of the festival season wound around into the next morning without skipping a beat; unable to sleep through my excitement, I found myself inescapably drawn to the sights outside our window: the pulse of bass, the arguments of far off car horns, the muffled shouts of pedestrians whose occasionally repeated cameos on the streets offered no insight into their context. In other words, bad angle, good view.

Yet still, the skyline captured me. The entire time in New Orleans, my eyes were in rapture: here, out the window, the city lay in the beguiling splendor of king’s cake; despite the traffic-blocking mounds of garbage collected on the street and the forbidden soup in its gutters, the city partied on. I couldn’t stop watching.
The same contemplative insomnia struck me more than one night in New Orleans. Only the first did I content myself with merely watching from a window. After all, the point of travel and adventure is to explore: to find where to go.

I didn’t really need to travel far, either: unfortunately unpictured, is Brother’s Chicken—the destination of all my other 3am odysseys for munchies, the route to which I made several of those random encounters one makes in life. I won’t forget the girls from San Francisco that let me bum their lighter, or the man from another night who nearly mistook me for a fire hydrant—I didn’t mind, neither did the wall that took what could have potentially been my place as emergency evacuation route.

Anyway, none of that in particular has anything do to with these pictures—stories aren’t really worth picture. But at the same time, a picture can’t really capture everything. And some things can’t be explained at all.

That’s enough yap for now, but in closing I do want to reiterate an eternal gratitude to the friends that accompanied (guided, even) me on this journey—especially for being conveniently sound sleepers.
