A special weekend celebrating the opening of the Bell Family Arts Center at Little City. @littlecityorg

For more than 60 years, Little City has created opportunities and provided support for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping people build independence, discover their abilities and find community.

The Bell Family Arts Center is an incredible addition to Little City’s 56 acre Palatine campus, joining its homes, school, recreation center, horticulture center and so much more. It gives Little City artists a dedicated space to create, express themselves and share their talents.🎨

This center was made possible by many, especially the Bell family, whose personal connection to Little City made this project particularly meaningful, and IKEA, which generously furnished the entire facility. @ikeausa

Shoutout to Tina for her energy and talent put into this project and the thoughtful invite to join in the celebration. It was such a privilege to see this space come to life, and even more special to know the difference it will make for the people Little City serves.💙

Art opens doors. And in this episode of Little City Big Voices, Julie Bell shows us how.

Inspired by her sister Andy, Julie (@juliebell8) shares how creativity can spark expression, learning, and real connection for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It is a powerful reminder of what is possible when people are given the space to create and be seen.

She also shines a light on the DSPs and staff who make that impact possible every day, with gratitude for the compassion and commitment that help build fuller, more vibrant lives. It is a conversation rooted in love, advocacy, and the belief that when we invest in creativity and care, everyone benefits.

Grandpa is gonna attempt this 2016 trend:

Starting with the passing of my grandma. Of course loss is hard, but celebrating her, reminiscing all the good times we had, everything she taught me, all the ways she shaped me, puts a smile on my heart 🫶 RIP grams

Vegas. SO. MUCH. VEGAS. I went to Vegas 8 times and approximately 1 week each time. It truly was the ‘golden era’ for beauty… So many conferences, so many influencer events. So many late delirious nights preping for these conferences and events with my teammates 🙌🙌🙌 You just had to be there.

So many good times with friends. So many celebrations. So many milestones. So many diverging paths, so many career evolutions, so many heart breaks, so many triumphs.

So much personal growth.
So much experience.
So much gratitude.
So much.

We’re so excited to honor Howard Bell this weekend at our VIP reception and Gala! During his lifetime, Howard was a champion for his daughter, Andy, and all at Little City. Julie Bell, his daughter, is accepting the award in his honor.

“Listen to the Scientist”

That has been the quote of the year but if I had listen to the “scientist” 11 years ago after having 2 back surgeries in 5 months, I wouldn’t be who or where I am today. It was a long road to recovery but even more education along the way.

Life is never about just doing something because you want to but more about the why and how!

For me, I didn’t want to be bound by limitations. I didn’t want to live in fear of what I couldn’t do and to be honest I hate being told what I can and can not do!

So I spent years learning the “HOW” and that became my “WHY”!
