Muy feliz de presentar la exposición Del Hilo a la Trama este jueves 15 de octubre en León, Guanajuato - Gracias @mac.zavala y el @mahg_mx por recibir esta propuesta artístico / curatorial - también a @oscar Ascencio Covarrubias por iniciarla y gracias al Taller Mexicano de Gobelinos y Jaime Ashida por acompañarnos y @moneyash y @coleccionashidacueto por el préstamo de obras ! La exposición Del hilo a la trama explora el tapiz como un medio de traducción de la imagen y un espacio de encuentro entre tradición y creación contemporánea. A partir del documental dedicado al Taller Mexicano de Gobelinos cuya historia da continuidad en México a la tradición francesa del tapiz de alto lizo, la exposición recupera la historia de este taller emblemático y propone un recorrido evolutivo en el que documental, videoinstalación y tapiz dialogan para revelar distintas formas de construir la imagen. La transformación progresiva del montaje convierte la exposición en una experiencia que pone en relación el oficio textil, la observación del paisaje y la materialización de nuevas obras. Melanie Smith and Patricio Villarreal Ávila Tixinda: Requiem for a Colour, 2025 Digital video. A Snail’s Purple - on show at Peltz Gallery, Birkbeck University, 43 Gordon Square London 23rd January to 11th March 2026 This one-channel, 15-min video was conceived collaboratively by Melanie Smith and Mexican visual artist and playwright Patricio Villarreal Ávila. Approaching documentary images from an intimate and sensorial perspective, the film investigates the field of perception shaped by a natural dye that for centuries has given life to and conditioned now endangered forms of animal-human co-existence as well as cultural circulation and transmission. Through concatenated close-ups woven together by a fragmented edit, the film attends to the agency of colour and its adherence to different surfaces, temporalities, and histories. Yet rather than a celebration, Tixinda is a requiem that silently underscores the extractive logics pushing the sea snail Plicopurpura pansa towards disappearance. The footage was shot by Julien Devaux during a trip with Smith, Villarreal Ávila, and several dyers to both Pinotepa de Don Luis and the Huatulco coast in Oaxaca, Mexico in 2023.

A abertura foi marcada por uma conferência de imprensa e por muitos encontros — o início de um processo vivo que convida a habitar o presente como espaço de criação coletiva 🫂 Gostaríamos de agradecer a todos os que se juntaram a nós neste momento, e a todas as equipas, designers, curadoras e colaboradores que tornaram este nosso sonho possível, num verdadeiro exercício de imaginação e trabalho comum 🌌 Mais de 60 projetos dão corpo a esta reflexão sobre o tempo, o cuidado e o Comum, propondo novas formas de comunidade. A exposição está aberta ao público — venham descobrir O TEMPO É PRESENTE. Inventar o Comum. / On the 23rd of October, we opened the main exhibition of the Porto Design Biennale 2025, curated by Angela Rui, at Casa do Design in Matosinhos. The opening was highlighted by a press conference and many gatherings — the beginning of a living process that invites us to inhabit the present as a space for collective creation 🫂 We would like to thank everyone who joined us at this moment, and all the teams, designers, curators, and collaborators who made our dream possible once again — a true exercise in imagination and collective work 🌌 More than 60 projects give shape to this reflection on time, care, and the Common, proposing new ways of being and imagining together. Vendredi 3 octobre à 20h, l’Atelier 34zero Muzeum vous propose une projection « Du fil à la trame » (2022), un documentaire sur l’histoire de l’art de la tapisserie – à la fois ancestrale et éminemment contemporaine – par le réalisateur Julien Devaux (@juliendevaux ). Au départ de l’Atelier des Gobelinos de Guadalajara, où se mêlent les savoir-faire mexicains et européens, eux-mêmes traditionnels et modernes, Julien Devaux nous emmène ensuite en France, en passant par Los Angeles et Bruxelles à la rencontre de plusieurs ateliers, artisans et artistes (Kiki Smith, Sheila Hicks, Joaquin Segura, …). « Du fil à la trame » témoigne d’un dialogue entre art et technique, hier et aujourd’hui, et entre les cultures grâce auquel la tapisserie ne s’est jamais laissée oublier et su rester contemporaine à toutes les époques qu’elle a traversées. Un film dont le titre fait écho à celui de notre exposition actuelle que nous vous invitons à (re)découvrir, avant ou après la projection. Julien Devaux est réalisateur de documentaires et artiste plasticien. En parallèle, il collabore aux œuvres d’artistes contemporains, notamment Francis Alÿs depuis 2004. Il a réalisé trois documentaires sur l’art qui constituent chacun un volet de sa réflexion sur la création artistique : Comment filmer l’artiste et l’artisan au travail ? Comment montrer la création en étant créatif soi-même ?
