“Roll” is what we call training with a partner in Jiu Jitsu, and on Halloween Saturday it happens in the tackiest outfit you own: the hawaiian shirt that hurts to look at, the reindeer sweatshirt, the pants that should never have left the drawer.

Roll-Ween is for adults and it’s free: no RSVP needed, come straight to RT Beachside at 11 AM.

📷 This is the first edition, so there are no photos from past years to show you yet: the 2026 ones will be taken by you.

Tell us in the comments which piece is coming out of your closet, and tag the training partner you want to see on the mats in the tackiest look.

A 12-week plan for the kids program, mapped out before the cycle starts. A first class built on fundamentals, with pressure introduced later. Four stripes that track behavior between belts, checked every two weeks. Two locations, both led by an international master: Master Renato Tavares, a black belt for 31 years under Carlson Gracie Sr.

Come to training with us.

Every black belt had a first class. Mine was in 1974. Now it’s your turn. 🥋

Your first Jiu Jitsu class is simpler than you think:

1️⃣ Walk through the door.
2️⃣ Bring comfortable clothes.
3️⃣ Start with a light warm-up.
4️⃣ Learn your first technique.

You don’t need experience. You don’t need to have everything figured out. Just take that first step, and we will guide you from there.

Confidence, discipline, and progress come with showing up.

Ready to start? Send us a message to book your first class at RT Martial Arts.

4 steps. Start with 1. 👊

Will I get hurt is the question almost every new adult asks before their first class, and it is a fair one.

Here is how we handle it. New students spend their first classes on fundamentals, posture, falling, finding your base, before training with a partner who is pushing back. No rolling in week one.

The rule is the same for the twenty-year-old coming off a sports background and for the fifty-year-old who has never trained anything. Nobody skips fundamentals because they look fit, and nobody gets paired against someone going hard because they seem nervous.

A student who has not learned how to fall gets hurt learning it live, under real pressure, from someone who is not holding back. So we teach the fall first, then the base, then the pressure, in that order, for everyone.

Come watch a class before you sign up for anything.

At RT Martial Arts, our coaches teach more than just technique. We teach focus, the honor system, and respect for others, because the real goal is to help your child succeed off the mats.

📍 We are here to support your family at RT HQ or RT Vero Beach. Click the link in our bio to learn more about our kids’ curriculum.

Homeschool families ask about the 9am class because it fits the school day: two classes, 9 and 10am, running twice a week at both RT HQ and RT Vero Beach.

Right now, between 34 and 36 homeschool kids train in that morning group. It gives your child a group of friends and classmates outside the house, something the homeschool routine alone doesn’t offer.

We also work with Step Up For Students, for families who plan their year around it.

Mornings are open. If yours are too, this class was built for that hour.

Every two weeks, your child’s class works through a different behavior stripe, and each one comes with two rules: one for the mats, one for home.

Red is about doing it yourself and trying your best. Green is about being kind to yourself and to the space around you. Yellow is about how we treat other people. Blue is about sticking to the rules.

Complete all four colors, and your child earns a stripe on the belt. It’s part of the same 12- week curriculum every class follows, so you always know what they’re working on this month.

Which color does your house need most this week?
