“Did you get lucky?”

JJ does consider himself lucky. He acknowledges that there are an infinite number of talented people out there doing what he does, and that getting to where he is took some luck along the way. It also took hard work and ambition. There’s a combination of things someone needs to make it, and luck is definitely one of them.

What do you think matters more in the music industry, luck or talent?

“What’s the worst piece of industry advice you’ve been given?”

The inside of JJ’s last album carries a line that sums up where he stands: “I love music, I hate the music industry.” He talks about an industry that’s often full of vultures, and how easy it is to lose sight of the work in the middle of it. His answer points back to the artists themselves. Connect directly with the people making things, whether that’s music, painting, film, or anything else, and don’t let the industry tell you how to do it. Worth sitting with if you make anything for a living.

I’ve decided it’s time to bring the numbered Saints cases to a close.

There are twenty-five cases remaining for this final group. Once those are spoken for, I won’t be painting any more numbered Saints cases.

Here are a few from the series. If you’ve been thinking about having one of your own, send me a message and we can talk.

🥉 One last international competition of the year for Sammi — the European No-Gi Championship! ❤️

And he finishes it with a well-deserved 3rd place! 🥉

But this year has been about so much more than medals and podiums. It has been a year of growth, learning, and becoming stronger — not just as an athlete, but as a boy .

New places, new friendships, new experiences, and feelings he had never experienced before. A year full of challenges, lessons, and unforgettable moments.

He fell, he got back up, he fell again… and still, he kept going. With courage in his heart, strength in his spirit, and the determination to never give up. 💪❤️

As parents, we couldn’t be prouder — not only of everything he has achieved, but especially of the amazing young man he is becoming.

The medals are beautiful, but the person you are becoming is our greatest victory. ❤️

Keep dreaming, keep fighting, and always believe in yourself, Sammi. We will always be right here, cheering you on every step of the way.

We are so proud of you, our boy! ❤️🥹

Many thanks to his sponsors
