The best possible music played by the some fine musicians who really know how to play it, @bannedfromutopia, 4 former member of Zappa’s band and Jamie Kime who has played with Dweezil Zappa plus special guest @frode.alnaes. A fabulous night together with my friend and long time Zappa fan @nielschald

Banned From Utopia at Tavastia-Klubi, Helsinki last night. Ray White, Mike Keneally, Jamie Kime and my favorite Zappa rhythm section Chad Wackerman and Scott Thunes. This - boys and girls - is how this music is meant to be played, with virtuosity, fire and a bit of humor as well... Over two hours of pure Zappa bliss!

I’ve seen plenty of Frank Zappa tribute bands over the past 30 years, but last night’s show by @bannedfromutopia in Schaffhausen was something special: dynamic, wonderfully musical and—thanks to the band’s collective talent—seriously funny. 🤘🎶
With Zappa alumni Mike Keneally (keys, guitar and vocals—sometimes all at once!), Ray White (lead vocals and guitar), and the longtime rhythm section of Scott Thunes and Chad Wackerman, joined by the equally brilliant Jamie Kime—who also played with Dweezil’s Zappa Plays Zappa—the band was in top form. The sound was excellent, too, and the setlist had a few surprises even for this longtime Zappa fan! 🎸🥁
The enthusiastic crowd was full of diehard fans and musicians keeping the flame alive. It was also great to meet John and Sam from the @treacherouscretins 🙌
Robert Martin couldn’t join the tour for health reasons. We’re thinking of him and wishing him strength and all the best. 💛

Non so quando ho ascoltato per la prima volta Frank Zappa (certamente in pancia), ma so certamente quando mi ha folgorata. Il live "Does humor belong in Music? " in VHS mi ha letteralmente fatto innamorare delle canzoni, della band e di quel Genio che era Zio Frank. Aver potuto vedere tre dei protagonisti di quel live mi ha riempita gioia, incredulità, ma anche di affetto ed energia che dopo mi hanno restituito quando, dopo il concerto, sono rimasta a parlare con loro. Peccato non aver potuto vedere anche Robert Martin, ma questo live ha chiuso un cerchio saldando la mia devozione verso la musica di zio Frank Zappa . Grazie @bannedfromutopia ❤️
