POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We take a bullshit-free approach to coaching, that means we are:

🔥Anti-detox
🔥Anti-punishment
🔥Anti-“earn your food”
🔥Anti-shrinking women to make them more acceptable
🔥Anti fear-based fitness
🔥Anti quick fixes

We coach women to:

❤️‍🔥Eat enough
❤️‍🔥Train smart
❤️‍🔥Respect recovery
❤️‍🔥Build muscle and bone

We coach women to fuel their bodies, lift with intention, rest with intention and build muscle and bone and do so in a way that supports real life and doesn’t feel like torture.

Strength training is about learning how to train safely, confidently, and consistently so your body supports you through work, family, stress, hormonal change, and ageing.

Down To Lift is more than a gym, we’re a community 🥹 and we’ve added more women’s strength groups so we can welcome more women into this space 💖

Benefits of lifting weights during this time:

- Build muscle to protect your bone mass, increase resting metabolic rate, regulate hormones, improve mental and cognitive health, be a strong fkn bitch
(All these things lead to reduced stress and improved sleep)

Can’t count how many times a client has said “Oh my god, I’m eating more, not exercising as intense and I’m building muscle, and strength, and feeling more confident.. I wish I had listened to you sooner” like yeah, me too bish 😅

Are you really failing at your goals or have you just set your expectations too high?

Are you struggling with consistency?

Are you frustrated because you can’t stick to the habits you’ve set?

Is it possible you’re asking too much of yourself?

Are you comparing yourself to others or even a younger less time poor version of yourself?

It’s okay to set realistic expectations of yourself. Any step in the right direction is a step in the right direction.

You need to meet yourself where you’re at CURRENTLY.

If that means just adding an extra 5 minute walk or adding more veggies to your dinner, chances are that ticking off those boxes will make you feel empowered to do a little more.

What women think they need to do in their 40s/50s : Increase cardio & decrease food intake

Vs What they actually need: Start lifting weights, rest, eat more protein and do not restrict food intake

You will spin your wheels if you’re under eating and over exercising.. This will not only exacerbate the severity of menopause symptoms but you’ll also speed up the rate of strength and muscle loss during this time.

DOWN TO LIFT are here to support women navigate this tricky stage of life ❤️‍🔥
