Life Drawing Workshop with @thebetterneighbors

I was handed my dream job: leading an artist residency in Costa Brava with international contemporary artists, all from different cultural backgrounds and each with a unique artistic practice. For four weeks, we lived and worked together, but before beginning the residency, I wanted to help create an environment where the artists could feel comfortable getting to know each other and building trust from the start.

To kick things off, I introduced the artists to ZEIT, an art community in Barcelona that first supported me opening exhibitions back in 2024. Ladislas, one of the artists at ZEIT, introduced me to Fede, an artistic muse who hosts life drawing workshops… and I thought it would be a cool way to begin!

Why a life drawing workshop? I felt it gave everyone the opportunity to loosen up, get their hands drawing, and share a part of themselves through their artistic style. What I appreciated most was the atmosphere Fede created. There was no pressure to get it right, just letting your hand move and allowing creativity to flow. She paired the session with great music that shifted through each phase of the posing.

Looking back, I feel this workshop helped break the ice and set the tone for the rest of the residency. It reaffirmed my belief that thoughtfully curated creative experiences can become powerful vehicles for building community.

The artworks created throughout the residency were later exhibited and auctioned at @timeraiser.arts in Barcelona, raising 1,270 hours of volunteer work for 3 NGOs across Spain: @afanoc_org @esperancabcn @goodkarmaprojects

A huge thank you to @fede_art.muse , @zeit.bcn , @ladislas_c , and The Better Neighbors community for helping create such a meaningful start to the residency.

Meet our participating artist @jumbojan
I am an illustrator based in Thailand. I work with vivid, bold colors, and my style is strongly influenced by manga and comic art.

I collaborate with both international and local clients, specializing in illustration for key visuals and packaging design.

Through my work, I hope to share my artworks with international audiences, connect with artists beyond Thailand, and explore opportunities for cross-cultural and international collaborations.
