I had the very best time at @goatlandia_sanctuary’s annual benefit gala. This year’s theme was Reggae To The Rescue!

Ran into my forever besties from @muttvillesf which tripled my fun! xoxo @goatlandiagirl, @sebastianzetin, @muttvillesherri and @jumbosound @oakland_uta ☀️

It’s funny. I was in West Portal today and got asked twice if I was eligible for the senior discount. Sign me up!

I’m always grateful when people ask me that. I love saving money. I’m not pretending to be 30 again. I wasn’t supposed to hit 40. 64 is pretty cool.

There was a really cute emo girl at the bakery I went to, and she asked, “Are you old enough for the discount?”

“Of course!” I said. “I’m elderly!”

She laughed.

As I was leaving, I said, “All my age means is that I’ve lived longer than you. But you know what else it means? I saw Fleetwood Mac for $7.50 during the Rumours tour. I saw Nirvana play for free in a record store. I saw The Smiths three times in London. I saw Pink Floyd’s The Wall.”

That definitely gained me some cred in her eyes.

One thing that feels so different about being 64 now is that when I was her age, I probably wouldn’t have had much culturally in common with someone my age now.

My parents listened to the Andrews Sisters. Though, to be fair, my mom did borrow my B-52’s, Go-Go’s and Thompson Twins albums for her aerobics classes.

But something has changed. Now it’s not unusual for three, sometimes four, generations to love the same music. You can have great-grandparents and great-grandkids who both love the Rolling Stones. Or Fleetwood Mac. Or the Beatles.

Maybe because I never had kids, I don’t feel that generational divide very strongly. I have friends in their 20s and friends in their 90s, and I find them fascinating at whatever stage of life they’re in.

So when you look at someone older and think, “old fogey” or “OK, Boomer,” remember: that person was once exactly where you are now, living through that same stage of life several decades before you.

I was fortunate enough to be a lifeguard and swim instructor, where I taught everyone from three-month-old infants to people well into their later years. It taught me something I still believe:

Every stage of life is fascinating.

And getting older gives you one hell of a back catalog.

And sometimes, a great discount!

So glad I attended a special screening of the documentary Dogspiracy, which exposes the inhumane treatment of dogs in puppy mills. Of course, I watched it with my Muttville 1.0 sisters, Deanne, Sherri, and Inger.

Mamas are forced to have litter after litter while living in awful tiny boxes and cages, then killed by drowning or being shot when they can’t produce anymore. Some are lucky and get rescued by caring animal advocates.

Huge thanks to my longtime Muttville friend, fellow vegan, animal advocate @michaelangelotorres who hosted the event and invited all his Muttville pals! I also had the great fortune to meet @drmarcthevet who made the documentary and visited many puppy mills across the U.S., as seen in the film. He was also instrumental in the passing of Lucy’s Law, which bans third-party sales of puppies and kittens under six months old to combat puppy farming in the U.K.

The doc will be available to watch online soon! Follow @dogspiracy_official

What a night! On March 14th, over 700 guests came to the opening exhibition reception for A View from the Throne: Gina Schock-–Inside The Go-Go’s. Portraying a legendary life on tour, as expressed through Schock’s unique documentarian perspectives bridging punk rebellion and pop breakthrough, the exhibition thrilled guests throughout the evening as they moved through an environment curated to evoke the rhythm and intimacy of being in a rock and roll band. Halfway through the event, Gina Schock, The Go-Go’s drummer, joined by Jane Wiedlin, The Go-Go’s rhythm guitarist, treated guests to an impromptu jam session, with both Schock and Wiedlin trading places on vocals.

Come see “A View from the Throne” Thursday - Sunday from 12-6 PM. Admission is always free!

It’s crazy that the day has come for Sherri Franklin to retire from Muttville! Year one still feels like it was just a few years ago. But here we are in 2026!

Sherri Franklin’s retirement party as Muttville’s CEO was also for me a love reunion with some of my favorite people. I love you all, and am so so grateful to have been part of something so magical and groundbreaking.

p.s. The last picture! It was touching and nostalgic to see one of the many Muttville print ads I created in a frame, included with an article about Obama. Ahhh good old days…

found this on the bottom of my left slipper this morning, a slipper that (as far as I know) has been no where near one of my Echoplexes, nor the studio room that I keep them in, for the entire life of said slippers. What is it telling me?
