love leaves a permanent mark too. This week, I gave a speech about the idea of permanency. I shared that I have 10 tattoos at 19 years old and asked the audience to decide whether that was concerning or impressive. I told them I thought it was efficient. Every one of my tattoos has a story, and I will always talk about them like they’re still brand new. My “de lo roto nace la luz” tattoo. My sunshine tattoo. “through it all.” “enough.” Each one holds a different version of me. Whether it’s different lessons, different seasons, or different things I’ve learned, lost, and carried forward. But this speech also made me think about the people who leave marks on us, too. The people who show up. The people who stay. The people who make you laugh when you probably should be crying. The people who somehow make a room feel like home. I got to stand on a stage and tell my story, but so many people helped me get there. I am endlessly grateful for this opportunity of a lifetime, and I hope more than anything that I can continue to use my voice to raise the voices of others- especially the little girl I was before I ever understood how much of her story she would have to carry. And @lindsay’s, thank you for keeping me warm and reminding me that some of the most permanent things in life are patient and kind. 🤍 #keynotespeaking #childabuseawareness #publicspeaking #whosailsyourboat
