I almost let the day slip away without wishing our sweet Clora Bryant a very happy birthday! 🎺✨

A year ago today, we unveiled the Clora Bryant mural and celebrated with the most beautiful dedication ceremony. It was such a special day honoring a jazz legend, trailblazer, and proud Denison native whose legacy continues to inspire our community🤍

We’re so lucky to have her story woven into our little corner of downtown and displayed on the side of Rae of Sunshine Collective for everyone to enjoy. Happy Birthday, Clora! 🌼💗

A little late but happy black history month y’all!

Our downtown, our culture, and the soul of this city were shaped by the Black community; from the railroad era that helped build Denison, to the artists, musicians, families, and leaders who created a legacy here long before it was celebrated✨

In May, we were so honored to reveal the mural of Clora Bryant on the side of our building! A Denison-born, world-class jazz trumpeter who broke barriers and changed music forever. Her story is a reminder that greatness has always lived right here in Denison. Tx!🎺🖤🌼

We honor Clora and the many Black icons, past and present, who helped shape not only Denison but our country as a whole. We’re committed to listening, learning, uplifting, and protecting Black voices not just this month, but always 🐝🫶🏼

Last Friday was a momentous day for downtown as we unveiled the Clora Bryant mural at @raeofsunshinecollective on what would have been her 98th birthday with her family in attendance! Clora Bryant is one of many heroes who called Denison home with countless accolades including becoming the first American jazz trumpeter to tour the Soviet Union. See @junipercreative.co beautiful mural today!
