Dame ‘Keshia’ Lorraine for the day!

Carnival Sunday (and Monday) was glorious!
Love my culture and community ♥️ 🇲🇸 🇦🇬

Sharing a little context on WHY carnival exists to balance the propaganda in the mainstream ‘unbiased’ media:

- Carnival is a historical celebration of emancipation for the freed Caribbean people across the islands, following the end of servitude. Many of the Caribbean diaspora in the UK, myself included, descend from these people.

- It became an event here in London (and cities across the UK - Leeds, Bristol, Leicester, etc.) following the racially aggrevated m**der of a young Antiguan man named Kelso Colchrane + general hostility experienced by Caribbeans here following their migration to the UK (what we now know as the Windrush)

- although it was born out of unfortunate circumstances it’s has become tradition and is at the heart of our culture.

And let’s be honest, we wouldn’t be here if they didn’t go there… #imperialism #knowyourhistory

🇬🇧 NHC 2024 WAS 🔥🔥🔥!!! This is my 5th time here and it’s easily become one of my favourite places. BIG thank you to everyone that booked me this season @remedyevents @olympia.ldn @dreamlandevents_uk @ucomcarnival These are some of the biggest stages for NHC. Shelled down every opportunity I got and made a lot more fans and connections out here. 🙏🏽 Big up all the new people I met and all the amazing hospitality I got while out here.

This tour stop was a MUCH needed change of scenery after the crazy Toronto Carnival season. See you all next year. SAME TIME SAME PLACE 🙌🏽.

✈️ My next DJ tour stop: JAPAN 🇯🇵 @japansocaweekend
