POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Once again, the veil between our world and the other side is thinning, the undead are stirring in their graves, and the spooky creatures are coming out to play.

For this year’s halloween event we have a special guest Jonny Hillson showing off his darker side and Matt Ford has been growing a pair of horrors in his lab (aka training apprentices), Stella Nova and Spectral Grace, who are ready to be unleashed on the unsuspecting public.

Not to mention, our resident shadow wraith, Jesse Jamees is creeping forth from the darkness for a very rare addition to a Gallery Tattoo flash event.

Be in early to secure a spot.

Flash priced between $60 (was $80) and $500 almost all of it will be one offs. First in, first served

What a market, nga mihi to @o_mua_goods and @the_part_time_thrifter for an epic ANOTHER CHEEKY MARKET, great idea to open the whole 2nd floor of 233 Willis St.

Thanks to @rachie_campbell and @djkerb1972 for jumping in with @jamie_berry_artist and I @ngati2cheekiestudio. It was a great day and the sounds were mean.

Shout out to all those that came through and spent their putea. we appreciate your support and a big thanks to those who came through and added to the atmosphere and vibe here in the studio.

As always, Jamie and I are humbled by the support and goodness, and we are privileged to be able to open our studio to great people. Ended the day with a few Inu and some more great tunes from the bro Kerb with a few good eggs. Hehe, you know who you are, and we love you guys.

Keep an eye out for EVEN ANOTHER CHEEKY MARKET coming in November just in time for Xmas.

My big homie @djkerb1972 has an upcoming art show this month and I got to sit down and kōrero about his early days in Hiphop and the journey from his early years in Newtown, Wellington to this day 🫡

He is a wealth of knowledge on Hiphop globally but also a pioneer locally as part of a wider Wellington Hiphop collective that he and his wife @spexone22 have been apart of for many years🙏🏽

I’ll be sharing a series of snippets from my kōrero with the uso, and how his upcoming show has come to fruition 🙏🏽🫡

What a journalist stamaloa! 😅😅😅

WAX IKONZ - Series 1 Exhibition by Kerb1
26 September
Ngati2Cheeky Studios
223 Willis Street, Te Aro Wellington

In 2014 the artists DJ Kerb One – along with his wife and flatmates suffered a catastrophic house fire in Newtown caused by a workshop they lived above. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire, but the emotional and material damage was significant. The residents were left homeless with only the clothes on their backs to their name.

Thankfully their family, friends and wider community came to their aid and helped them in their long journey to recover their lives. Unfortunately, among the damage caused by the fire was over 30 years of classic memorabilia, books, tapes, CDs, artwork, fashion connected to Kerb’s experience and passion for Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Reggae and many more genres.
For Kerb the most devastating loss was his large record collection containing music he owned and curated since the age of 13.

Finally in 2026, twelve years after the fire, Kerb has been able to reconciliate the trauma and loss by focusing on a series of artworks created on fire damaged vinyl records pulled from the wreckage of the destroyed apartment.
The 1st in this series of artworks will be a limited collection of Reggae and Dancehall tributes to some of Kerbs personal favourites and inspirational music Ikon. These works will be hand painted using aerosol and acrylic paints. The finished vinyl pieces are 100% original and will not be remade, copied or reprinted.

Kerb has planned to continue the ‘Wax Ikonz’ series into the future covering genres such as Soul, Funk, Hip Hop and DJ culture.
