Plot Twist: the guy teaching this solo styling class used to be terrified of dancing alone. 😬 For years, the moment there was no partner to connect with, I froze. Dancing solo made me nervous every single time. The movement never felt like mine. It took a lot of hours in the studio, a lot of failing in front of the mirror, and slowly learning to let the moves fit my body instead of forcing my body into the moves… before styling on my own finally felt like home. ❤️ So this clip means more than it looks. That’s the same for every lead from class - great job out there guys! And the first 10 minutes of the workshop? We didn’t dance bachata at all. We grooved, we opened up, we smiled, we moved like no one was watching, no mirror allowed 🙈. Because you can’t style with intention until you’re comfortable being seen. Song is Escalofríos by Jensen 🎶 pure playfulness and musicality. You’ve probably seen it tear up Nama battles, and there’s a reason: it hands you so much to play with if you actually listen 🔥 Which is my one real pet peeve… watching someone dance with zero connection to the music, no footwork, and taking no risks 🌳 let your dance be an expression of you and it’s okay to look silly sometimes 😉 Big shoutout to @bailadistrict.official for hosting my workshop 🙌🏾 and @_avakarami 🙌 running the follows styling class right next door and hyping us the whole time.
