Jekalo is on Black Coffee’s track IDs.

He has supported my music through the years and it never gets old. You put a record out and you have no say in who picks it up. When someone keeps coming back to yours, that is the whole thing.

Thank you to Black Coffee and his team for the love and the dedication 🤍

It was called Afro Slang for most of the time. I saved a version on 13 April and did not open the project again until 20 July. Nothing was wrong with it. It just had no reason to be a song yet. Music can’t be forced.

Thank you to everyone on this list for playing Jekalo. Seeing where it has turned up, and the messages that came back with it, has been the best part of putting it out.

I went to ADE in Amsterdam and ended up at the Innervisions party, and I came home wanting to make something. The loop turned up a few days later and then sat in a folder for three months, because there was nothing wrong with it, it just had no reason to be a song. So I called Simone to help me develop it, and then we got eL-Jay in, who wrote the words and sang them. That is the part I could not have done.

That is Jekalo. It is out today.
