I’m jealous of the uneventful part. Being able to leave the house, sit through dinner, or go about your day without anxiety turning it into a whole internal negotiation. That’s the kind of everyday life I envy.

Dealing with anxiety or panic can mean putting so much effort into things that look effortless from the outside. Sometimes I just want an ordinary afternoon without having to work so damn hard to enjoy it.

The bare minimum was never really my thing. So here I am, decorating our living room for my husband’s birthday at 6 AM on a Sunday, still in my pajamas, while he gets to sleep in. Because apparently I believe birthdays deserve a little extra effort, even if that means sacrificing my precious Sunday morning sleep. The things we do for love.

My social battery is playing games with me again.

I make plans because staying home every night makes me feel like I need a social life. Then the plans actually approach and suddenly my couch, comfy clothes and absolutely nowhere to be sound incredible. Somehow I’m both the person asking “when are we hanging out?” and secretly hoping someone cancels.

Not saying my man is better than yours, but the evidence is getting embarrassing. Some girls have to beg for flowers. Mine studies my favorite seasons. And apparently, my husband has made it his personal mission to keep my standards ridiculously high.

He knows how obsessed I am with fall, so naturally, he surprised me with the sweetest little boo basket. Again. Completely unprompted. Just because he knows what makes me happy. Not to brag, but I married the reason your standards should be higher. And yes, I’m going to be absolutely insufferable about it.

Fall mornings have officially become my entire personality. And yes, a cozy sweater, fresh coffee, and an autumn leaf are apparently all it takes.

There’s something about staying in bed a little longer, sipping a warm latte, and pretending the rest of my responsibilities don’t exist. Especially when it’s October in Los Angeles and I’m determined to act like it’s sweater weather.

Two besties, one shared brain cell, and absolutely no qualifications to be giving life advice.

Pretzel and I have regular therapy sessions over iced coffee. I tell him all my problems, he stares at me like I’m the problem, and somehow we both leave feeling better. Honestly, the most affordable mental health support in Los Angeles.

Apparently, having boundaries is a personality flaw now. Who knew? The moment you stop saying yes to everything, suddenly you’re difficult, selfish, or you’ve “changed.” Well, congratulations on noticing. I was getting tired of being everyone’s unpaid emotional support department anyway.

The funniest part about recovering from people pleasing is realizing how many people were perfectly comfortable with you being uncomfortable. Saying no without a 20-minute apology is still a work in progress, but disappointing people who benefited from my lack of boundaries? Honestly, I can live with that.

Home is where the iced coffee is. And apparently, mine has a drive-thru.

At this point, Starbucks should really consider charging me rent. I just appreciate a place that understands my emotional attachment to overpriced iced coffee and doesn’t ask unnecessary questions about my whereabouts.
