POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Long post/massive self-cringe:

Been a while since I shot fashion/digital and — as such — the gear’s been stashed. Brought some of it with me on the current gig in case I got a call for a fashion shoot in the area.

Volunteered to shoot some snaps at a friend’s party and figured I’d try out my new beauty dish that @bhphoto gave me a steal-deal on.

To quote one of my nephews (😂): long story short — the strobe wouldn’t fire. But the modeling lamp lit up. Spent 30 sweaty minutes trying to figure it out at the party and eventually said fuck it I need to meet some people and congregate.

Spent an hour this AM at my pad trying to figure it out (slide # 2) and eventually texted my last digi-tech. The text came back:

“Did you put the bulb in?”

No. No, I did not. I’m an old fuck (apparently) and the modeling lamps used the same bulb back when we started our automobiles with a handcrank.

Man, I love my assistants and I wouldn’t be shit without them.

🤷🏾‍♂️😂😂😂

Final pic of 1 of 3 @justinbua pieces I own that are hung in my gallery/casita.

Justin Bua painted The DJ, one of the most popular art prints of all time, and created the look of EA Sports’ NBA Street, a billion-dollar franchise.

He grew up a latchkey kid in New York City, breaking in the streets beside Rocksteady Park and watching junkies and hustlers through the hallway of a single-room-occupancy building, while Rembrandt and Van Gogh hung on the walls at home.

The conversation lives where hip hop art meets the sacred, in drawing as a spiritual practice and a channel from God, and in what happens when a commodified art world trades mastery for institutionally propped-up abstraction.

Real rebellion, we find, can’t be separated from authenticity.

LISTEN TO THE KIDS.

If you partake in the 4 Elements of Hip-Hop, please support your graffiti writers and street artists. I fully understand using ai as a tool, for example: a muralist using VR goggles to digitally "sketch" on a wall for reference.

Big up tech companies like @graffitiplus.io for hiring talented homies like @enok_one to demo their sick new digi wall.

HIP-HOP HEADS, PLEASE STOP USING GENERATIVE AI.

Being creative takes time. You need that journey. Grab a sharpie and doodle. The children of Earth deserve better.
