Walking away from this sport is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Wrestling didn’t just shape me as an athlete it shaped me as a man. I honestly would not be the person I am today without it, and I would not be standing where I am in life without everything it put me through and everything it taught me. I thank God every day for putting me in this position and for placing wrestling in my life. There were so many moments that were hard, painful, and exhausting, but I’m so grateful for every single one of them because they made me stronger, tougher, and more disciplined. I’m beyond grateful that I got to go through this journey with the people I did. To my teammates you were more than teammates, you were brothers. You kept me going on days when I didn’t think I had anything left. You believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. To my coaches thank you for pushing me to limits I didn’t think I could reach. Thank you for pushing me to the point where I wanted to quit, because those were the moments that built me. You saw something in me and refused to let me settle, and I will carry that with me for the rest of my life. I know I fell short my senior year, and that will always hurt, but I’m still so grateful. Grateful for where I am, grateful for this family I built along the way, and grateful for every lesson this sport gave me.
Wrestling will always have a place in my heart. No matter where life takes me, I will never forget what this sport gave me, what it taught me, and who it helped me become. I’m proud truly proud to be part of this special group of guys who have come through this program over the years. Being part of this brotherhood is something I will carry forever. Thank you for everything.
I will carry this with me for the rest of my life. Forever grateful.
