Today was Spark Fall Fest. It was a fun event for families in the CCSD 180 community. It has been my mission to help remove barriers between people and opportunities. As part of our DuPage County Board District 3 Member Initiative, DuPage County awarded a grant to the Community House to contract with Jamie Thompson to serve as a Community Engagement Coordinator in the Hinsdale Lake Terrace area in unincorporated DuPage County. . Jamie has been hard at work engaging with the community and connecting them to community resources. Today was the “Upward Mobility” job fair in the clubhouse at the Avanath Acclaim at Hinsdale Lake. . What an amazing event! More than 48 jobseekers met with employers and community service organizations. And we community representatives had the opportunity to meet our local residents. . Thank you to Jamie Thompson for putting this job fair together. It was a heavy lift, but she got it done like it was nothing! And thank you to our community partners: . Avanath Capital The Community House State of Illinois Central Management Services DuPage County Community Services WorkNet DuPage College of DuPage Goodwill Industries People’s Resource Center . We are stronger when we work together!

As a DuPage County Board Member, I have spent the last couple of years building connections and learning about community resources. . Yesterday was a beautiful day because I had powerhouse community leaders converge to think big about the possibilities of bringing meaningful resources to an area of unincorporated DuPage County near the Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve. . Thank you to Kandice Henning and Becky Pundy from the Alive Center, Dan Janowick and Jamie Thompson from the Community House, and newly elected Downers Grove Township Supervisor Kim Savage for touring the neighborhood with me and joining our community coalition. I am excited for the possibilities!
