Dog Shelter is the hip-hop duo of rapper Just Joey and producer Kieran Hemming. Hailing
from Galway, Just Joey brings his gritty New York roots to his lyrics, while Kieran Hemming
blends jazzy-samples and hard-hitting drums with his skilful guitar and bass playing. With the
two artists’ talents brought together, their self-titled EP makes for a distinctive and
captivating listening experience.
The pair, who have been friends since secondary school, draw inspiration from
heavyweights such as Run The Jewels and The Streets, as well as fellow Irish hip-hop
artists Kneecap and Kojaque.
What makes Dog Shelter special is not just their unique new-wave hip-hop sound, but also
their passion for animals, especially dogs (as their name suggests). The duo donates
revenue from live gigs and streaming to animal welfare charities. So far, they’ve donated
€615 in total to Limerick Animal Welfare and the Galway SPCA: all this made possible by
just two gigs.

My favourite shots from my recent shoot with @dogsheltermusic 📸🎤
Had a great time hanging out with the lads in Galway and taking some cool photos for an upcoming article about them in @star.fish.magazine

There were some funny moments too, including an encounter between @justjoey98 's head and a seagull... 😂 (slide 2)
And even a cool recreation of @kieranhemming 's album cover from back in the day (slide 6)

Looking forward to hearing more from the lads - don't miss @justjoey98 's new single out Monday May 5th 👀

Want to get some photos taken for yourself? My DM's are open 📸

Camera flash, I’m laughing, moving away from you;
The frame ain’t off, I just move at a different rate than you.
