So it has taken me a week to recover from months (since July), of planning for a fabulous event/performance of stepping and strolling. Last week this time I had the opportunity to perform and collaborate with an amazing group of women who said yes when I texted them to ask to participate. On behalf of Dance Roots Etc. Productions, I thank them, yet again lol, Dance New Jersey and Sorors that came out to support a night presenting and celebrating dance artist in New Jersey. Until next time …… ❤️🖤💛.

“What A Waste!” -Matthew 26:8 (NLT) 🫗

Like I shared on the onset of this sermon in my remarks, this preaching assignment was bittersweet. “Bitter” because my late Grandfather is with the Lord in glory and didn’t see this moment come to pass as well as my Uncle Ervin. So in honor of his memory I wore my grandfather’s dress shirt as I stood to preach.

“Sweet” for the reason that my grandmother, who’s a live and well; and my family were present to see this day come to pass. As child, when we would spent multiple nights at my grandmother’s house, in her living room I would use her lamp table as a pulpit and preach for the congregation of my family. My grandparents would bring me to this church as they brought my mom, two aunts and uncle where this was their home church. After years of sitting in the pews as a boy wondering about the opportunity to preach one day finally was answered in God’s timing. Thank you Specc @kahlimootoo and The Historical Emmanuel AME Church family for this amazing full circle opportunity. TGBTG!

Being apart of a sport that is dominated by our white cheer sisters and brothers, it is important that we uplift our Cheerleaders of Color.! Our rhythm and style has enhanced the world of cheer. Our athletic ability and undeniable strength and versatility have pushed the boundaries of cheer.! We have also added to Cheer’s difficulty by the introduction of Stomp and Shake, which is now becoming a vastly popular style of cheer. We, NJ Golden Squad, take this time to recognize the Social and Racial Injustice That has stained this country. We look to our families in cheer that promote unity amongst athletes of ALL color to continue to be a vision of not only cheer excellence but BLACK EXCELLENCE✊🏾‼️ #blacklivesmatter #stompandshake .
