Massive prop lists, excavators, green screens and special effects… this one took some planning.

I realised I post a lot of BTS but rarely the finished work, so I’m changing that starting with this one.

The amount of planning that went into this shoot was next level. Massive prop lists, excavators, green screens, location scouting, special effects and a lot of moving parts all coming together to create something I’m really proud of.

This is why I love filmmaking. Taking an idea and bringing it to life, then seeing all the pieces come together on screen.

Huge shoutout to this all-star cast:

Flashback to the recording of LAKME for our film HANDLED (2023). My gorgeous duet partner for this recording was the luminous @rebekahamowbray.

This film received Best Short Film at What The Film Festival 2024, two Best Actress Awards in Detroit and Vancouver film festivals, and was used as a subject matter in The Australian Cinematographer’s Society’s tech committee’s documentary on HDR technology.

I loved working with this team of insanely talented people. Creating this film was an incredible experience I am immeasurably thankful for. It’s yet another dream come true for this dreamer, to be able to work alongside fabulous humans who bring their talent, love and passion to storytelling.

Special thanks to Tim Gleeson, our incredible DOP, and Paul Smith for engineering our version of Lakmé in his sound studio.

🎬 In whatever capacity, there’s nothing I love more than coming together with other creatives who love what they do.

Thank you to everyone at HJ Studios @albert0xu @lilluludeer for bringing me on board to lead this drama.

A true pleasure getting to work with all the uber talented & professional crew and getting to connect with actors some of whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with before and some for the first time.

Thank you to our director @celestediep. Your understanding of an actors needs made all the difference. Your ability to work at such a fast pace and to juggle the demands of this project is commendable. 🙏
