Over the weekend, I did nothing for 24 hours.

I participated in a soul wander with 3 other men on the @justynbostic & @grace.full.adventures ranch. I began fasting at 8:30am Friday morning. We entered the ceremony with an hour-long sauna session at 2pm, then proceeded to our individual campsites, where we stayed until 4pm Saturday afternoon.

No phones, no food, no interaction for over a day.

I entered the ceremony with high expectations, hoping for some stark confrontation with myself. But it never came.

Instead, I watched my thoughts wander. I replayed moments and conversations I hadn’t thought about in what felt like forever. I watched the time pass as the sun moved overhead.

But the earth-shattering revelation never came. My life didn’t change overnight. I was reminded that the whole point was simply to be still. To experience and be one with God’s creation.

I experienced a total nervous system reset, coming back with a calmness I hadn’t felt in a long time. We broke the fast together with fresh fruit, meat and cheese and ate like kings.

In a world built on constant stimulation, we forget where we came from, where we belong, who we are. We absorb noise for so long that we forget what our own thoughts sound like. We make decisions that aren’t our own and wonder why we feel misaligned.

You don’t have to remove yourself from the world to return to your essence, but you must create space to meet yourself, to return home. This is the modern reclamation of your soul that the world doesn’t want you to have. Men especially have to step in to this. To be the guardians of the light for ourselves and the future generations that follow.

There is much more to be integrated from this experience, but I have immense gratitude, appreciation and admiration for the men who stepped into the depths with me.

Aho Great Spirit.
