Yesterday marked 10 years since I sat at the tables of this place and looked off into the distance to a house that had the word ‘image’ painted on the front of its roof.
Being young and naive back then I never thought it would’ve be quite the journey it’s been. When it comes to skateboarding this place will always be my hometown, the people I grew up skating with to all the place it’s taken me, I still come back to try and do anything I can because of everything this place has taught me. Throughout the last 10 years there have been many failures & lessons learnt, but I wouldn’t change a thing because the greatest thing that has kept me going for this long is the people. I know when I was younger I was weird and that’s not to say I’m still not, but skateboarding has taught me a lot about who I am as a person and introduced me to life long friends whom I’m forever thankful to have met. Yesterday may not have gone 100% to plan but to be honest I’m glad it didn’t because what came to be was so much better and skateboarding was the overall winner, to those who made the trip out to celebrate, thank you!
A big thank you also needs to go out to @stevemcinnes @benventress and the whole crew at @projectdist for having supported not only yesterday, but everything we’ve done together over the years, every skateboarder walked away with something and appreciated everything you legends donated towards this event.
The only thing left to thank is skateboarding itself, I don’t know who or where I’d be without it, but I know it would’ve never been as fun, insightful and crazy as it’s been for the last #10yearsofimage 🍻
Please join myself and everyone past, present and future in celebrating the last ten years by checking out @image_sb and continuing on the celebrations at @rumbleonthereef next week!
