The pitch was let’s make a film that’s undoable. Oh my god did the best step up. Last half of semester 2 was sensational. I love you all in every life.

Before I committed to the life of a DJ, I dabbled in acting… I’m not a properly trained actor, I just did A Level Drama and modelled for years which made me alright in front of a camera 🥲

I only ever booked one serious role, in a beautiful short film called “Shell” by the amazing @samantha.brainx 💜

Sam had seen one of my reels on Instagram and basically said I had to play this role in her film. I almost turned it down because I’d just come out of one of the hardest breakups of my life, but when I read the script, I realised maybe this film had found me for a reason.

After it was released last year, everyone told me I should keep acting, but I came away with an uncomfortable realisation… because I wasn’t acting.

I actually really struggled to get this scene right. I remember feeling so much pressure because my co star @brains.pdf is genuinely one of the best actors I’ve ever met and had the absolute honour to work alongside with! I really didn’t want to let them down. So I stopped trying to perform and I thought about my heartbreak, the pain, the betrayal… and I completely broke down 🥲

I felt like such a fraud and because I knew I would never be able to recreate that “performance” ever again… and I had to be honest with myself… I don’t know if I really want to do that again? 🤣

But what’s interesting is that not long after Shell was released, I got dropped by my acting agency… and instead of seeing it as a loss, I actually saw it as a sign that this experience had given me everything I needed. I was called to act in this film because prior to it, I’d spent years not being able to truly cry or feel anything deeply… now all I do is feel everything deeply 🤣

Plus having my first real role in a film directed by a Filipina, alongside an incredible cast of Filipino talent, is something I’ll always be proud of! 🇵🇭❤️

I think the beautiful thing about acting is that it asks you to feel. To let go. To be completely vulnerable for a moment. And at a time when I didn’t know how to process everything I was carrying, “Shell” gave me that release ❤️‍🩹🫂

Thank you to everyone involved! ❤️You

A year ago, I left my second home behind: a community of artists hidden inside an infamous London house. Moving to LA, I kept wishing I could fold the place into my suitcase and bring everyone with me.

To the first night, the final morning, and every beautiful, excentric soul who wandered your halls; thank you for the art, the laughs, and unforgettable stories.

Trente-Deux, mon amour. Goodbye isn’t forever, but my love is. xxx

Here’s to a new chapter on the other side of the Atlantic, and creating a home for artists anywhere, and everywhere 🍸
