So many people have died, and missing and likely buried and can never be found - Nepalese and trekkers from all over the world- Americans, Israelis, Europeans, from everywhere…
I’ve been to Nepal twice. The first time was with Megan in 2002 for a month. Then in 2008 a 200 mile 3 week trek with Jen and Gil near the Tibetan border. We were in a different valley from the one that flooded, but not far away, the land was pretty much the same.
One of the photos shows a huge avalanche. We were safely away from it. When you are down in one of those valleys and a flash flood comes through, there is nowhere to run. But looking up at that avalanche you wouldn’t think that was happening - the distances are huge and the mountains so vast.
There was no roads or official borders where we were, then it was a wild, uncontrolled frontier. People crossed the mountains with yaks from Nepal - just walk into Tibet to trade wood. Tibetans escaping persecution used these valleys to flee Chinese persecution. We were told bounty hunters hunted them.
Some of my favorite photos are from Nepal, taken on film. These are just a few from the border with Tibet.
One photo at 18,000 feet with altitude sickness - terrible day. The trip was a month after my Dad passed away. I love Nepal so much. Thinking about everyone affected.

Finally made it to the Fox Theater in Oakland, and what an amazing venue! Kruder & Dorfmeister also put on an incredible show, with a live rendition of the K&D Sessions. Just an awesome night all around.

Last night’s epic sunset at Lake Tahoe was a long lingering beauty that kept getting better and better, especially as viewed from the beach. Which is your favorite?
