POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This Is Reality, Not an Exhibition.

It was eye opening to see the amount of waste from across Phuket coming together in one place. What was especially concerning was seeing recyclable materials mixed with general waste, making the sorting and disposal process even more challenging. 💔

A big thank you to the Phuket City Municipality and PJT Technology, the dedicated team working hard behind the scenes, for giving us the opportunity to learn more about the realities of waste management in Phuket. 🙏💚

We recently visited the Phuket Integrated Solid Waste Management Center to learn more about how Phuket manages its waste.

This is exactly why waste separation and responsible waste management matter. When waste is mixed together, valuable recyclable materials can be lost, and managing the remaining waste becomes more difficult. 😮‍💨

What we saw gives us valuable insights to share with our community and partners, helping raise awareness and explore ways to reduce waste at the source, so less waste needs to be disposed of in the first place. Because the best way to manage waste is to create less of it. ♻️

As we approach the end of the monsoon season, we’re seeing of less rubbish washing up on Mai Khao Beach. That’s good news!

But there’s still another challenge we face every day is picnic litter left behind on the beach. From single-use plastics, glass bottles, foam containers and snack wrappers, these are some of the most common items we find and urgent need for the solutions.

Keeping our beach clean isn’t just about picking up what the waves bring in. It’s also about taking responsibility for the rubbish we leave behind.

JW Marriott Phuket, Mai Khao beach. 8/10.

A big, open-air, very Thai resort at the quiet north end of the island. Thai musicians in the lobby, fire dancers in the pool at sunset, and elephants on the beach.

Full review, with real prices from my folio, on keyandfork.com (link in bio).

Three months ago, we arrived in Phuket with our two little ones. What started as a stay became a little piece of home.

Being Marriott Vacation Club owners gave us the opportunity to spend these months together in such a beautiful place. Marriott’s Phuket Beach Club gave us the comfort of a home — a kitchen, laundry, space for our family — while JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa gave us so many beautiful experiences and memories with our babies.

Truly, thank you to the JW team, Marriott Vacation Club, Marriott’s Phuket Beach Club, and Marriott’s Mai Khao Resort. The care, attention, and warmth you showed our family made these months unforgettable.

Thank you, Marriott, for being part of this chapter of our family’s journey. 🤍

What a wonderful day at Mai Khao Beach! We came together with @plasticfreephuket_ @uwcthailand @groupibhq Group-IB, and volunteers from @soidogfoundation for a beach cleanup filled with sharing, and taking action together.

Before hitting the beach, we got to know one another, shared inspiration into the rubbish problem and ideas for better rubbish management, and examples of products made from recycled materials. ♻️✨

In just one hour, we collected a surprising amount of rubbish of many different kinds, with single-use plastics, bottles, and fishing ropes among the most common items.

Together, we made an impact:
Total collected: 148.7 kg
Recyclable: 91.8 kg
Landfill: 56.9 kg

A huge thank you to all our partners and volunteers for being part of this wonderful collaboration. Together we shout, #saveouroceans ! 🙌🫶

Special thanks to @kolinfriske for the support and amazing photos! 🙏

We were happy to join the community tree-planting organized by Poo Yai Lek and CCASM team creating more green spaces and supporting carbon capture through local community action.

It was inspiring to see different sectors coming together from government sectors, local members, university, and hotels that was a great opportunity to exchange ideas, explore collaboration, and strengthen connections between organizations and the local community. 🤝🙌

① @saii.lagunaphuket

② @jwmarriottphuket
JW Marriott Phuket Resort & spa

③ @theslatephuket
The Slate, Phuket

Save
