“Release the Follow”

Trying to let go of what I think I know. Trying to embrace what I don’t. We ain’t done climbing though.

They say if you stay ready, you never have to get ready.

Came in the studio to rework the staged piece for the camera. Needless to say this really showcases how the team behind the lens was able to elevate the vision🤞🏾 Truly surrounded by some of the best ❤️‍🔥

We goin up 📈📈📈

p.s. picked up this “storyboard” pre-pro tip from my sis @pauline.casino🤞🏾

Hi everyone, Hanako here :) Another one done! Can't believe this was our SEVENTH Jam, six years strong. Thank you to everyone who was there for being a part of such an amazing night. At its core, The Jam is a celebration of this vibrant and diverse community, of dancers growing and pushing their creative boundaries, of people crossing paths and making new connections, and of friends catching up and getting down together. The Jam would not be The Jam without you all contributing to this celebration and building it up with me in various ways!

Truthfully (bc I love to keep it real) — I am but a single person bearing ~75% of the work in producing The Jam, completely remotely from LA and Tokyo, and my second in command, the incredible Jane Sun, is a FIRST YEAR IN LAW SCHOOL, and Jeo and Katie both have full-time jobs while voluntarily assisting us — it's been blood, sweat, and tears pulling off our biggest Jam yet! I mention this because I want you all to know that I, and the rest of this small team, care SO much about making this event a fun time for everyone whilst benefitting the community in meaningful ways. I want you all to know that we take The Jam veeery seriously, and we do our absolute best to make sure everyone is taken care of, feels safe, and has a positive experience at our show + party.

As the producer, my experience of the event is wholly different from the experience of performers or attendees. I can easily tell you whether or not we were successful logistically, but it's always unknown to me whether or not we were successful in creating the intended FEELING, until I hear from other people afterwards. And in a lot of ways, that feeling is the most important part.
So, to hear so many of you sharing with us how great of a time you had, or how you see it as a safe space, or how you always look forward to this event, it gives me and the team such great joy and encouragement to continue to put in so much hard work into creating this space for you all.

(Thoughts continued above in slides!)
