Best Caption — Inspiring Learning Photo Contest
Photo and Caption by Kate Olsen

“My passion lies in sharing the wonders of the worlds wild lands with others.

This summer, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the dense forests and vast oceans of Alaska. I watched as families of humpback whales gathered to feed. I gazed in awe as large chunks of ice broke off from their mother glacier and crash into the ocean.

Yet my favorite image captured from this experience was not a flying bald eagle, or an ancient Sitka pine climbing towards the heavens.

It was in a simple moment where my little brother had a desire to learn, and I had an opportunity to teach. In that moment, I was able to pass on knowledge to a new generation, and hopefully inspire thoughts of conservation and passion for protecting the worlds creatures.

Photography and imagery gain importance and influence when they are shared with others. I hold this memory dear to my heart, and I hope there will be many more like it in my future.”
