The career-ender. Dear Chile Toreados of the world: it has been a good run. Tonight I retire the crown. Until we meet again.

Good morning, little K.

We have reached a milestone of sorts. You’re 6 months old. Half a year. No longer half baked. Insensitive joke. I know. But this train keeps chugging along.

Without further ado, here’s your monthly letter.

Before you were born, I told your mom that once we hit 6 months, things would get “better” and “easier.” I had no idea what I was talking about, but for some reason I had it in my head. Maybe I had watched friends emerge from the haze and hibernation around that mark, or perhaps I simply made it up entirely and called it intuition.
Well, we’re here.

At times it felt very far away. Not to get too hyperbolic (big word, you can google it in due time), but those early months had us counting the days…heck even the hours. Now they seem to be flowing a little more freely.

And I was sort of right. At least in our case.

You’ve become much more fun. Your personality is really starting to shine through. And it was a big month for you.
You took your first flight to Virginia and Maryland to visit your great grandparents. You got to meet your cousin, your uncle and aunt, and spend time with your Babu (granddad) and K2 (grandmom).

How cool is that?

Your great grandpa, PaPaw (I think that’s how our Alabama kin spell it), turned 90. Seeing you hold his hand, and spending time with Memama, who will be 90 soon herself, was a beautiful gift. They adored you and were so grateful we made the trip.

From deserts to dead & co, April was a feast for the eyes. Grateful for the best travel companions and a community rooted in kindness and music. Our world needs more of this.
