I had the honor of leading the sculpt portion of SCULPT IN THE CITY, an intentional Labor Day women’s wellness event created by @joanaenza and @tierraajenaae, and it reminded me so deeply of my why. 🥹🤎

Years ago, I walked into my first group fitness class trying to find my way back to myself after a track injury, being told I may never move or lift the way I used to, and being diagnosed with PCOS.

After graduating and moving back to Dallas, I missed being part of community & a team more than I realized. Then I walked into a wellness happy hour and, for the first time outside of sports, saw a room full of women who looked like me.

I was in my oversized Adam Sandler clothes 😂 because I had lost so much weight and felt awkward in my body, but for the first time in a long time, I felt like I belonged.

So I kept showing up.
I went to every yoga class that studio offered. I met my first Pilates instructor there and started taking reformer classes with him. Eventually, I felt strong enough to think about lifting weights again. Then I found another studio with all kinds of classes, including small-group lifting, where I could slowly begin trying again

In 2024, inspired by the women and instructors I met, I went back to school. Now I’m a Certified Personal Trainer, sculpt instructor, and chiropractic student spending my days moving bodies and studying bones 😂🤎

I had no idea where those first steps would lead. I just kept walking. I guess that’s what it means to walk by faith and not by sight.

If I never heard no, I wouldn’t appreciate the yes the same way. If I never failed, I wouldn’t have learned how to fly.

My why?
It’s you.
It’s the women who show up. The women who try the thing that looks hard anyway. The women who modify when they need to and push when they know they have more. The women rebuilding relationships with their bodies. The women discovering how strong they actually are.
