Every year for my birthday, I try to write a genuine post about my life in order to bring some type of authenticity and vulnerability to social media—something I think it and my account lack greatly at times. And every year, I feel like I report it’s been the hardest year of my life lol, but this time, it might actually be true. To say I’ve gone through a lot in these last 12 months is an extreme understatement.
If you could learn anything about me at all, I’d want you to know that my grandparents are the most important people in my life. And this year, my Papa was diagnosed with ALS, the nastiest disease a family could ever be forced to endure. My two-year relationship ended, tuition expenses, my broken phone and car, and other familial issues that can’t be talked about on here have all seemingly dogpiled onto me. Often now, I struggle to find any purpose at all, and yet so much of it surrounds me and fills me.
I feel like I am going through one of the most intense periods of growth. I have always worked hard, kept my head down, and pushed through, and I assure you, this year is no different. I do not have the privilege of such.
I’m reminded that life is so short, and this next year is my year of yes. I want to be more, learn more, see more, do more in order to become more like the person I was created to be and honor those who came before us.
Thank you to each and every one of you who have supported me unwaveringly and given me the space to share (especially Gracey, Joey, Ellie, and Anthony). I owe you nothing short of my life. That is not an exaggeration.
If you have time, for my birthday wish, I’d love for you all to check out als.org and go visit your grandparents!
