Half a Year of Art at Czech Center New York

The first half of 2026 at Czech Center New York featured four exhibitions that brought together artists across generations, disciplines, and geographies, exploring abstraction, material storytelling, speculative futures, and immersive interdisciplinary practice.

Station for Paused Forecasting | SEP '25 to JAN '26
Presented recent works by seventeen emerging artists from UMPRUM, imagining a fictional station for forecasting uncertainty, transition, and the threshold between study and professional practice.

Parallel Arrivals | JAN to MAR
Brought New York-based artists Jitka Exler and Jan Kabzan into dialogue through freedom, intuition, and abstraction. Curated by Vilém Kabzan, the exhibition reflected on the continuity of artistic vision in a world increasingly shaped by digital imagery.

Kitchen Table Imagery | MAR to MAY
Curated by Kryštof Hejný, the exhibition gathered eleven ceramic artists from Czechia, Mexico, and the United States, opening a conversation across cultures and generations through objects, rituals, and shared experiences.

When Monsters Dream | on view through SEP 3
Curated by Tereza Špinková, the exhibition presents works by artists connected to the Prague-based post-underground collective Střešovická Kramle. Moving between painting, sound, installation, video, and performance, it creates an immersive environment shaped by dystopian imagery, ecological unease, and experimental forms.

Thank you to all the artists, curators, partners, and visitors who joined us throughout the season. We look forward to welcoming you to more exhibitions, programs, and events in the second half of 2026.

When Monsters Dream remains on view at Czech Center Gallery through September 3.

Open Monday to Thursday, 10 AM–5 PM.

Parallel Arrivals opened last Thursday at the Czech Center Gallery, bringing together the works of Jitka Exler and guest artist Jan Kabzan, curated by Vilém Kabzan, the exhibition explores a journey into abstraction as a deeply personal, expressive language shaped by freedom and intuition.

Tonight, the gallery will be open until 7:30 PM! If you’re nearby —perhaps coming for a special talk and puppet show dedicated to the legendary marionette comic duo Spejbl & Hurvínek—make sure to stop by. In a world increasingly dominated by digital imagery, we invite you to explore the works in person and experience their dialogue of color, material, and form up close.

Parallel Arrivals is on view at the Czech Center Gallery through March 4, Monday to Thursday, 10 AM to 5 PM, with noted exceptions. We are looking forward to your visit! In the mean time, enjoy this selection of special moments from the opening night.
