They say it takes a village to raise a child. It also takes a community to support a cancer patient. On Sunday, 6 August 2023, Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) held Pink Sisters Day. It's to celebrate cancer survivorship and to create solidarity among breast cancer survivors, as well as survivors of cancers affecting women. During the event, pink sisters pledged to support one another in our recovery and survivorship journey. Highlights of the event included a talk on breast cancer 🎀 by Astra Zeneca, one of our event sponsors, a fireside chat with Dr. Nina, an oncologist from Universiti Malaya, Liew Swee Lee, and Nel from BCWA. During the event, BCWA Patron, Puan Sri Akmal Salam, was awarded an Honorary Membership from BCWA for her long-time commitment and efforts in bringing BCWA to higher grounds.. The event finale was a big board full of pledges signed by pink sisters 💗 #BCWAMalaysia #PinkSistersDay
