if you weren’t at Tempo Thursdays last night you missed outtt.

The rain tried to shut us down but we still came out shining. It’s always a pleasure to perform with @honeygrooveband!! Biggest appreciation goes to @tempothursdays_ @frontbackaccra @karby_young @adokwei_savage @leonardoddj for creating such an amazing space to soak in all the great talent this city has to offer, seeing the light in me, and helping me share it.

Huge thanks to God, my team and everyone who came out to support me 🫶🏾🫶🏾

Let’s keep raising the vibration

This past Saturday we did something beautiful. We gathered at @rivianofficial for our inaugural exhibition & cocktail hour and held space the way our community knows how — with intention, care, and creativity.

We honored our supporters and volunteers, uplifted Black + Brown artists and small businesses, raffled away @fotodioxpro lighting equipment, and told our stories through photography — our way, on our terms.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, poured in, and made the room feel full.

The full gallery is coming soon — give us a little time. We’re still coming down from it too.

To every single person who contributed to this moment — our artists, donors, sponsors, awardees, volunteers, and all who showed up and held space — thank you. You made this real.

We gathered twenty artists, including several who debuted their work publicly for the very first time. We witnessed stories, presence, and connection unfold in real time. And together, we raised $2,000 toward building our mobile darkroom — a resource meant to travel through our city and meet people where they are.

A special thank you to @rivianofficial for opening your doors, sharing your space, and honoring the vision. Your partnership made room for community to feel seen.

This is just the beginning, here’s to Year Two — in community, for community. 🖤

Raised glasses all night at our Inaugural Exhibition and Cocktail Hour. 🥂

All of our love to our preferred vendor, @amor.and.agavemobilebartending for the great spirit and all the perfectly poured cocktails.

We’ll see you next Fall at our Juried Art Fair. ✨

Grateful for our first class of exhibitors — the work, the conversations, the presence. It was an honor to print, frame, and install your images with care. 🖤

We’re keeping the momentum going. Later this month we’ll host a post-exhibition workshop: a space to reflect on what this show taught us, learn more about printing + presentation, and dream toward what’s next.

Open to:
• our current exhibitors
• artists who responded to our last call
• any artists interested in building with us

Keep an eye out for the date. We’re just getting started. ✨

We’re honored to showcase the work of twenty incredible artists whose photography will be on display at The Darkroom Chicago’s Inaugural Exhibition & Cocktail Hour.

Almost every piece in this exhibition was printed and framed in-house at The Darkroom Chicago — a reflection of the craft, care, and collaboration that drive our work.

📅 Saturday, November 1 | 5–8 PM
📍 @rivianofficial at 871 N. Rush Street
🎟 Tickets still available at the link in the bio — bring a friend and join the celebration.
💫 Donations welcomed in support of The Mobile Darkroom Project — our next step in bringing film photography access across Chicago.
🎁 Raffle: Enter to win one of three studio lighting kits from @fotodioxpro — perfect for artists ready to expand their creative toolkit.

Come see the work, meet the artists, and witness what community-built storytelling looks like. ✨
