🍂 ✨ Thank you for joining us last Thursday for our Fall open studios, marking the end of this residency dedicated to the members of the Wabanaki Confederacy. With great generosity, our three residents — 𝕀𝕧𝕒𝕟𝕚𝕖 𝔸𝕦𝕓𝕚𝕟-𝕄𝕒𝕝𝕠, 𝕁𝕒𝕟𝕟𝕒 ℕ𝕚𝕔𝕙𝕠𝕝𝕒𝕤 and ℂ𝕒𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕖 𝔻𝕖𝕤𝕛𝕒𝕣𝕕𝕚𝕟𝕤 — welcomed us into their studios and throughout the centre’s various facilities. They shared the many encounters that shaped their residency, from meetings with artists and knowledge keepers. ✨ From birchbark pendants, a Scrabble game in the Wolastoqey language, ceramics from primitive firings, wooden bowls evoking the movement of water, and many other discoveries, the evening was rich in exchange and discussion! We then enjoyed a warm and friendly moment together around a delicious chili prepared by our dear Camille Devaux. ☀️ / Here's a throwback in pictures of last weekend, when we had the pleasure of welcoming 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗲 from the Wolastoqiyik Nation for a workshop on preparing deer and moose hides to be used in drum making. 🫎 Under Martin’s kind and patient guidance, participants were able to experience each step of the process — from stretching the hides on frames to scraping them with a moose tibia bone — in an atmosphere filled with curiosity, respect, and sharing. A heartfelt thank-you to Martin for his generosity, and to Ivanie Aubin-Malo for making this moment possible! ☀️ - 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼. ᴀᴛᴇʟɪᴇʀ ᴀᴠᴇᴄ ᴍᴀʀᴛɪɴ ꜱᴀᴠᴏɪᴇ, 2025.

mecimi-te skicinuwihkuk naka askomi-tehc skicinuwihkuk 🪶(always been indigenous land and it will always be) I wonder all the time how life would have been if we didn’t had to go through all the struggles Canada put us into… How much they tried to wipe us out… How much they divided us… how much they hated us… Then I think How resilient were our ancestors 🖤 how much they must be proud of us🖤 How much they must love us🖤. Some beautiful pictures by @mckenziewpower from @kahtolin s show at @flourishfestival 🌸✨🖤
