🌿🎬 LOVE & LAND | 6th EthnoKino Film Festival 2026 📍11-13 September 🇨🇭 @kinocinemattebern 📍7-17 September 🇵🇪 @cineclub_de_lambayeque 📍9-11 October 🇨🇭 @kino_meiringen What does it mean to love a land? And what happens when that land is transformed, extracted, commodified, or taken away? In an era of deepening inequality and unprecedented concentrations of wealth, land remains one of the most decisive forces shaping power, prosperity, identity, and belonging. This is particularly visible in Latin America, where historical patterns of land concentration continue to shape social hierarchies, political economies, livelihoods, and ecological futures. For its 6th edition, EthnoKino Film Festival turns to LOVE & LAND, exploring the intimate and political relationships connecting people to territories, communities, ancestors, future generations, and the more-than-human world. This year’s edition is developed in partnership with YarpuyNinchik, bringing cinema to Indigenous territories in Peru; the Wyss Academy for Nature, collaborating with us on impact filmmaking; and the Turning Land into Capital Research Project, led by the Departments of Iberian and Latin American History at the Universities of Bern and Bielefeld. Together, these collaborations inspired an international open call for films that look beyond today’s crises and place contemporary struggles within longer histories of land ownership, extraction, capitalism, resistance, and care. ❤️ For us, love is not simply an emotion. It can be an ethic of care, reciprocity, solidarity, resistance, and responsibility. Welcome to LOVE & LAND. IM BANN ITALIENS | UNDER ITALY’S SPELL ✨ Corelli und die Meister des italienischen Barock | Corelli and the Masters of Italian Baroque 🇩🇪 Im frühen 18. 🇬🇧 In the early 18th century, Italy was Europe’s great musical destination. 6th EthnoKino Film festival “Love&Land” 2026 is loading ❤️‍🔥 Are you ready for another season across the globe 🌍 Patagonia Cusco Locarno Bern Meiringen Zurich London New Delhi Ladakh Berlin Istanbul Mexico City In a world fractured by borders, inequalities, and ecological grief, love emerges as a radical act of repair a pulse that reconnects beings and lands across divides of species, culture, and time. The 6th edition of EthnoKino Film Festival invites filmmakers, artists, and researchers to explore LOVE & LAND not as sentimentality, but as a force of transformation, a method, a movement, and a mode of knowing. Through the lens of visual and multimodal anthropology, we seek cinematic works that unveil love’s plural forms: from ancestral care to collective struggle, from the tenderness of place-based belonging to the fierce compassion of resistance. How do communities love amidst loss? How does love shape our relations to land, memory, and the more-than-human world? We welcome films that engage with the ethics of encounter where love becomes a bridge between self and other, researcher and community, human and Earth. EthnoKino’s 2026 edition celebrates love as cosmology, as political ecology, and as an everyday practice of reimagining what it means to live together. ✨✨✨Graphic design & poster by @kai_matthiesen
