Femme Fatale Series
Look 2 - This look instantly recalls the drama and glamour of a 90s South African album cover. Reminiscent of the bold energy of Lebo Mathosa & Kelly Khumalo.

This week, we spotlight the stylist behind the series, @tumelo.pm Take a peep as she lets us in.

So keen to share the images we created in this Femme Fatale series. It was a pleasure to work with an all-female team — we truly co-directed each shot, and the flow and energy of this shoot were just perfect.

Look 1 — The cheetah print look was our lead shot. The intention was to play with contrast lighting and warm hues to create an old-school feel. Styling and makeup were heavily inspired by the 90s vixens who exuded sexiness with class.

Draped in tailored power, crowned with ancestral flair. These silhouettes echo the unapologetic elegance of African dandyism where style is resistance, identity is performance, and fashion becomes a language of pride.

Each stance reclaims space, rewriting the narrative of what it means to be bold, Black, and timeless. This is not just a picture, this is heritage sharpened into statement.

I styled this amazing ladies inspired by the Congolese “Sape” or “La Sape” refers to the “Société des Ambianceurs et des Personnes Élégantes,” a Congolese subculture focused on elegant dressing and personal style, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo. These individuals, known as Sapeurs (or Sapeuses for women), express themselves through meticulously chosen, often high-end, clothing and accessories, transforming into “dandies” or “fashionistas”. La Sape is more than just fashion; it’s a cultural movement with roots in colonial resistance and social commentary, expressing identity and challenging traditional notions of wealth and status.”

@tktakatso did some things with the snaps 📷
