YouthCon in picture form!

Wow. So much has happened since last year. Before going into this week, I prayed, “God, please give me clarification.” I was asking Him about something that had been weighing on my heart. Wednesday came and went. Then Thursday. Nothing. Before the last session on Friday, I opened my Bible and prayed again. I asked the same thing: for confirmation and clarification. The doors opened, worship began, and after worship, @beckyfoxjohnson preached. It felt like she was speaking directly to me. In that moment, God answered my prayer. He gave me the confirmation and clarity I had been asking for, and I just broke down. I gave everything to the Lord—my sorrow, my pain, my tears, all of it. After the message, Becky gave a specific altar call, and I went to the front. I cried and cried. Then she laid her hands on me and prayed over me. In that moment, it felt like a weight lifted off my chest. I could feel God’s presence so strongly. My eyes were swollen from crying, but for the first time in a long time, I felt free. At one point, I didn’t even know why I was still crying. Looking back, I think God was simply helping me release everything I had been holding onto. I’m forever grateful that I got to experience YouthCon and encounter God’s presence in such a personal way. There’s something about transition seasons that makes you stop and really look at what God has done.

One child grown.
Another preparing to leave for college.
The youngest beginning to dream about her future.
A new chapter ahead for all of us.

And as I look at this picture, I don’t just see accomplishments, sports, grades, or milestones. I see the faithfulness of God.

These kids have walked through things most people never knew about - uncertainty, loss, financial hardship, illness in our family, rejection, broken trust, limited space to grow, and seasons that could have easily made them bitter or broken. They shouldn’t all be together. They shouldn’t all be smiling.

But by the grace of God, they overcame.

Not just becoming successful, but kind. Humble. Compassionate. Hardworking. Resilient. The kind of people who continue showing up for others even when life is or has been hard on them.

That doesn’t happen by accident.

God didn’t only show up through miracles out of nowhere. He showed up through people - encouragement, generosity, guidance, prayers, and the right people at the right time reminding us we were never meant to carry life alone.

And I think that’s what I want people to see most.

Not our struggles.
Not the accomplishments.
Just God.

Because every season we thought might break us somehow became a place where He carried us instead and bonded us together even tighter. While many thank God on the mountaintops, we can never forget He was with us in the valleys first.

So thankful for these three and for the goodness of God woven through every part of their story. And as two now step into lives of their own, there is so much peace in knowing that even when we cannot hold them every step of the way, He will. ❤️

** LATE POST **

Last weekend we got to celebrate our girl and her High School graduation. She has worked so hard in her classes, her sport, and especially growing her Faith & her relationship with Jesus over the past 4 years. We are extremely blessed that my Uncle Steve and Cheri offered to host a party for Bri because, quite frankly, we may not have had the opportunity to give her the celebration she deserved.

With family in from out of state, out of town, and local friends and family, the party was a great success and even though as a homeschooler, graduation doesn’t always look like a “traditional” graduation, we still were able to celebrate you and all you hard work.

Bri, I know you don’t like being the center of attention, but you deserve to be celebrated. Thank you to all that made this happen, especially Steve & Cheri as well as other family members and friends who showered her with love. Thank you to Mima & Bob, Auntie Jamie, Allie, Cheri & Steve, and of course Caleb for the set-up and clean up and for helping to make this such a special day for our girl.
