Dear Abby, dear Abby, I’m here at Girls State…

Returning to @lagirlsstate has truly been one of the best gifts. There’s something so special about getting to witness the next generation of female leaders, and they inspire me year after year.

To my fellow Senior Counselors, thank you for being the glue that held this week together. From problem solving to hysterical laughs to staying up past 1am to learn TikTok dances, you were such an amazing group to work with.

To my Bogafalaya counselors, it was amazing to watch each of you embrace leadership in your own way and I’m immensely proud to have been able to be part of that journey. And to all the Boga Butterflies, it was a joy to be your SC for the week.🦋

Finally to the Science Center, thank you for trusting me to guide you through the week and for allowing me to teach you about a life in science. It has been so fulfilling to watch this project come to life over the past two years. Your ideas truly amaze me and give me hope for the next generation of women in science.

Already looking forward to next year!

The good times are many, the bad times are few.🩵
Signed, SC Lizzie🫶🏻

Dear LAGS,
From Atchafalaya and Amite to becoming a girl of Pearl these last two years, it truly has been a journey. Since ’23, this one week in June has given me more than I could have imagined—friendships, lessons, laughter, growth, and a place that always felt like coming home. I’ve been lucky enough to experience Girls State through different lenses: first as a participant and then as a counselor, pouring into others the same way so many poured into me. It feels strange to say farewell to something that has become such a constant, so instead I’ll say, “see you later.” Here’s to the future, wherever it may lead, and to a program that somehow manages to be exactly what it is. After all, Girls State is what it is, and it ain’t what it ain’t. 🩵🤗🥳🥰🫧

Year 🖐🏽 is complete at the best in all the land!

@lagirlsstate, thank you for making my heart feel so full each year. Words can’t express how much this program means to me, & how it has shaped me into the woman that I am today. I’m eternally grateful for LAGS & the bonds I’ve formed through it.

I was ecstatic to return back to my T-Funk roots. T t t T-Funkkkkk!!! I couldn’t have asked for a better parish, or group of counselors & citizens to spend my week with. You all made my first year as a Senior Counselor feel like a breeze. I appreciate each & every one of you.
