What does an actual youth governing body look like? Announcing our 2026 Gulf of Mexico Youth Action Congress! 🎉

Each year our capacity grows and this year marks a new milestone. We are now 17 members deep, with youth organizers representing even more communities across the Gulf. Our first Congress in 2022 consisted of only 5 incredible young professionals. We love the growth 🥰

The Youth Action Congress serves as our Board of Directors for GOMYCS - made up of young people actively doing environmental and climate work in their communities. Together, we shape the annual Summit, guide organizational direction, and build campaigns/initiatives that respond to the realities we face across the Gulf.

From policy to advocacy to education to direct action, this is what it looks like when young people stop waiting and start moving. The Gulf incudes our futures too.

We’re excited for what this year will bring 🌎

Still processing the gratitude, growth, and deep love I feel after hosting our 4th Gulf of Mexico Youth Climate Summit. Each year it gets bigger, stronger, and more connected and not just in numbers, but in purpose. 🤍

I’m endlessly thankful for my partner in this work, @maggiegpeacock , and for our Gulf of Mexico Youth Action Congress members who lead with vision and heart. Special shoutout to our Operations Committee — @hennessynicollett & @conservationistkait — for keeping us grounded and organized throughout this wild, beautiful week.

Whether it was the Youth Summit, the Environmental Youth Awards, or our site visits learning about the fossil fuel& environmental justice fight here in Corpus Christi, this past week was full of hope demonstrated in action. We built new partnerships, welcomed new sponsors, and deepened our network of incredible Gulf speakers and allies.

Big love to @isblla.pdf and the Youth Climate Finance Alliance @youthclimatefinance for guiding our leadership team through a shared purpose and vision workshop. It was a critical moment to pause, reflect, and imagine what’s possible together.

I can’t wait for what next year brings. If you believe in Gulf youth, environmental justice, and frontline leadership, we invite you to support and follow our work. 🌊💙 @gomyouthclimate
