We studied the fugue today in Music in Culture, and we did one of my favorite activities in trying to understand what the fugue is all about…translating musical concepts of the fugue into pictures. We had fun with this. I especially love the transformations of the house and the snake!

This year was the best year ever!

I used to always be jealous when people posted about their years, because I never felt like I had a truly wonderful or exciting year worth being proud of. This time, I’m happy to report that 2024 has been the best year yet :) I have been blessed and grown in so many ways the Lord knew I needed; I hardly feel like the same Shelby a year ago that was praying for the Lord to change my life and help me make it new somehow. With my UK semester abroad, McNair research summer, and chaotic Tennessee fall, I’d say He did just that. I still have a lot of growing to do, but these people (along with many others not pictured) have walked beside me and seen a worth in me that I never saw in myself. You are all such blessings to me, and I don’t think I could ever truly convey how meaningful you’ve been and continue to be. I love you guys and I’ll see you in 2025!

One of the most rewarding parts of my educational career was getting to work with the wonderful people in the Kairos Scholars Honors program at Lee University from its inception in 2003. it was great to help celebrate their 20th year today.
