Dear New Paltz,

Never would I have thought the impact you would make on my life when I first moved here almost nine years ago. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without this experience and as much as I am proud of the work I was fortunate enough to be a part of, I’m most proud and the most thankful for all the relationships I’ve made, conversations I’ve had and friendships I’ve been lucky enough to develop. I’ll always take with me the little moments at games or in the office with everyone I was able to get to know, who cared enough to also get to know me. I felt challenged, frustrated and pushed at times but it allowed me to grow and be ready for the next chapter in my career. I would’ve never been able to get through those times without amazing colleagues and friends, who always believed in me and allowed me to have trust in myself. I’ll forever be indebted to this place for all the incredible people I was blessed to work with, talk to and meet along the way. I remember in my first week of work, I had a colleague tell me on their last day that some people leave hating it, but if I give it a chance and stick around long enough, it’ll grow on me, and it can become a special place. Looking back nearly a decade later, I understand why.
