Last night, Hank and I attended the 2026 Blue Ballot Reception! It was an incredible evening bringing together leaders, advocates, and supporters from across Georgia to celebrate our shared values and continue the work of strengthening our communities.

Congratulations to Senators Elena Parent and Emanuel Jones for being recognized as true champions for our communities.

Grateful for the meaningful conversations, connections, and shared commitment to building a stronger future for our communities.

✨ Shared Voices ✨
At The Shedding, we believe healing and truth-telling are not meant to be done alone. They’re meant to be spoken, echoed, and witnessed.

Today, we’re honored to share a piece from one of our community members. It’s raw, unfiltered, and deeply real. Their words remind us that healing isn’t just personal, it’s also collective. That grief, anger, and hope for change live inside us all.

If you feel called, sit with these words. Let them stir you. Let them remind you that your voice, too, matters.

I had the opportunity to volunteer for one of Gwinnett’s Congressional Representatives, Hank Johnson (US-04) at his latest Town Hall at Gwinnett Technical College. Thank you to his team for setting up a successful forum for constituents to ask their questions and receive updates on what’s happening with our federal government.

In case you missed it, click the link below to access the full recording for the Town Hall.

I am honored to have the support of my friend and co-founder of Stone Mountain Action Coalition (SMAC) Bona Allen 💙💛

DeKalb is better than how we are portrayed in the media. It takes the right leadership to help change the narrative.

💙 We are not done yet 💛

The runoff election is this Tuesday, December 3rd, to elect our next Super District 7 Commissioner.

💙 Turkey Giveaway 💛

1 in 7 folks in DeKalb are categorized as Seniors. Yet, most of our policies are not inclusive of their concerns or sensitive to their needs.

Yesterday, #TeamBolton spent a couple of hours traveling around DeKalb listening to their vision for our community and spreading a little joy. We gave them much needed turkeys to help celebrate their families on Thanksgiving.

Thank you for having us 💙💛

It was my absolute pleasure to be the guest speaker at Freedom Middle School 💙💛 for the MOMS & MUFFINS program.

It was like my 40 year old self was giving advice to my 12 year old self. I saw myself in them and hope that they saw themselves in me. Our children have the potential to be extraordinary with the right encouragement, exposure and education.

Thank you for thinking of me 💙💛

💙💛 Since I have taken this journey to run for Super District 7 Commissioner, the #1 question I am asked is not “What do you plan to do for our community, if elected?” It’s actually, “What made you get into politics and run for office?”

In this season, everyone from ‘the street to the elite’ is concerned about inflation, housing, college, local violence, international war and so much more. Yet, according to the Pew Research Center, only 2% of the population has ever run for office as a strategy to do something about it.

So “Why Run for Office?,” you say

💙 We have the POWER to reshape the community we live in, instead of reshaping ourselves to adapt to the communities we move to. Our government is a republic that requires us to get involved or get overlooked. Only you and those that empathize with you are equipped to effectively articulate your needs. So run or support someone who’s running.

💛 Some of us spend years trying to find our PURPOSE. Look no further because everyone’s purpose is to serve. The question now becomes “In what capacity do I serve?” Whether it’s business, entertainment, worship or elected office, we are made to pour into others as our cup spills over from others pouring into us. Running for office allows you to pour into thousands of people everyday.

💙 Times are changing, our leaders are retiring and we need fresh energy to keep up the fight. In the words of Coretta Scott King, “FREEDOM is never really won. You earn it and win it in every generation. That is what we have not taught young people, or older ones for that matter. You do not finally win a state of freedom that is protected forever. It doesn’t work that way.”
