Christie Clinic Illinois Half Marathon

Had fun celebrating my friends’ races. Many of them were running for the first time. And I set a lil PR: 1:44:11!

And, best of all, I remembered to start my Strava this time 😉

Yesterday was an unhappy day, because we had to say goodbye to our sweet wonderful boy Buzz. He was almost 13 years old, and aside from the last few days, he was happy and healthy his entire life. We feel so lucky we got to be his dads, and we’re going to miss him terribly.

Buzz is the reason Kalib and I met. When we were next door neighbors, Buzz jumped the backyard fence one day to get to Kalib. I went to get him back and met my future husband. It’s the only time Buzz ever jumped a fence, but it seems he’d scoped out who he wanted his other dad to be, so he made it happen.

When I moved to Atlanta for grad school, at first I didn’t know anyone in town. But I had Buzz with me, so I wasn’t lonely. He kept me company and helped make my new house feel like home. He was just happy to go on a new adventure with me, to have a new yard to play in and new sniffs to sniff.

Buzz was there for all the big moments of my life the past 13 years, and for the small ones too. I’m thankful to have so many good memories with him. I love you, Buzzy 💛
