Music beyond borders, sang by big people. 🥰

Thank you @kalinemusic for allowing us to connect with your lyrics and music. The lyrics to this song are so real and so heartfelt. All of us in the room felt it. What a gift you shared with us and what a joy it was to sing your song. ✨🎶💛

I am already missing adult big choir. Looking forward to the next time we are together. 🎶🎶

“No dialogue. Just the score carrying the reveal.” What if the music in a film could tell you something is about to happen before the characters even realize it?
That is the world Kaliné creates. The composer, singer, and pianist has built a reputation for using music as an invisible narrator—guiding emotions, building suspense, revealing subtext, and quietly preparing audiences for what comes next. Through her online breakdown series, Kaliné takes viewers behind the scenes of film composition, breaking down scenes frame by frame and demonstrating how small changes in harmony, rhythm, melody, and silence can completely transform a moment.

Her musical foundation runs deep. Kaliné began playing classical piano at just five years old, developing her skills through challenging works by composers such as Chopin and Beethoven. She later studied at the Berklee College of Music, where she expanded her classical foundation into contemporary songwriting, production, and film scoring.

That versatility has become a defining part of her work. She can move from delicate acoustic arrangements that capture intimate emotions to expansive orchestral compositions designed to make a cinematic moment feel larger than life. Her scoring credits include acclaimed African film and television projects such as Breath of Life, The Herd, Blood Sisters Season 2, and The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, which was selected for the Centrepiece Programme at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.

But Kaliné’s creativity doesn’t stop at film. She remains an active performer, bringing her music to live audiences through productions such as Christmas with Kaliné at Terra Kulture in Lagos. Her work is a reminder that some of the most powerful parts of a story are never spoken. Sometimes, a single chord can create anticipation. A change in tempo can make your heart race. And one carefully placed note can tell you everything you need to know. For Kaliné, music isn’t just part of the story. It is the story beneath the story.

sometimes the simplest ideas are the most potent and this scene from EXTRACTION helped me explain that EASILY! I love the fact that there wasn’t any original scoring in this particular scene, it gave me a whole lot room to have fun!

safe to say Original Music Score by: ME ✊🏽
