People over cars. 🌿

What happens when you reclaim a desolate asphalt cul-de-sac and give it back to the neighborhood? You get the Florence Street Pocket Park. Over a decade ago, Breathe had a vision to turn the end of Florence Street into a park and along with our neighbours, advocated to council to turn this dead end street into a place for people, not cars. Last weekend it was a dream come true to see the parklet come alive with the community coming together for a long lunch. Thank you to the Merri-Bek Councillors at the time, who recognised what was possible and passed a motion to provide this parklet.

Tucked between The Commons and Nightingale 1, this pocket park trades cars for a pedestrian-friendly space that provides much-needed relief with native trees, grasses, and public seating.

It’s more than just urban cooling; it’s about fostering local connection and providing a safe, walkable space where residents can pause, dogs can play, and you can linger with a morning brew from @porco.deli.

At our Fitzroy North project, the build had already done the hard work: hand-glazed tiles, beautifully veined stone and soft, considered light.

Our job was to make the home feel ready to be lived in, not simply ready to be photographed.
